Jessica Alba
Born: April 28 1981
Where: Pomona, California, USA
Alba's breakthrough starring role came as the all singing, all dancing Honey...before becoming a founding member of the Fantastic Four.
After a wandering childhood - from Californai to Mississipi and back again - she took her first acting class aged 12.
She made her feature film debut in 1993 in the comedy Camp Nowhere after replacing the original star who had to drop out (apparently their hairstyles matched).
Advertising jobs for Nintendo followed before the TV role of The Secret World of Alex Mack in which she played a young snob.
She landed the TV role of Maya in Flipper and went on to star in Venus Rising as well as P.U.N.K.S, featuring Randy Quaid in 1998.
Roles followed in Beverly Hills 90210 and The Love Boat: The Next Wave and the big screen outings Never Been Kissed and Idle Hands.
Alba won plaudits for the TV series Dark Angel and went on to study dance for a month for the movie Honey.
In 2005, she played the grown-up girl that detective Bruce Willis protected in the digital film noir Sin City.
She also played invisible girl Sue Storm in the big screen adaptation of Fantastic Four and was seen dancing in the waves for the surf-based thriller Into The Blue.
Offscreen, she threatened to sue Playboy Magazine for using her picture on the cover of the March 2006 issue without her permission.
She said it misled people to believe she appeared nude in the magazine. Publisher Hugh Hefner apologized and made a charity contribution on her behalf.
In 2007, she reprised the role of Sue Storm in the sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
