No not the current Foreign Secretary's resolution to the Middle East crisis, but a highly enjoyable sci-fi escapade based on merican novelist Cook's (of Coma, Virus and Mortal Fear fame) cult novel. When Beau Stark (Luke Perry) is 'stung' by a mysterious black rock, he develops a flu-like illness that turns out to be an extraterrestrial virus. As he undergoes a dramatic personality change his 'mission' is to prepare the Earth for a forthcoming alien invasion. As the weeks pass millions more humans become infected - as in Invasion of the Body Snatchers - and it's left to the uninfected - Beau's girlfriend Cassy (Rebecca Gayheart), his best friend Pitt (Christopher Orr) and medical researcher Dr. Morane (Kim Cattrall) - to save the planet. Despite the techno-jargon and plot inconsistencies, the excellent special effects and quality cast make this an entertaining, if a tad cliched, yarn.
