'Fact-based TV movie' is a phrase that isn't necessarily a recommendation. Indeed, it would put some people off. But in the case of One Kill, don't let it. This is a solidly-scripted and well-acted drama. Anne Heche stars as a Marine who has an affair with a fellow officer (Sam Shepard). But not only is he married, he goes off the rails when she wants to end the affair and, when he tries to kill her, she ends up killing him. She goes on trial for murder and, because he's a war hero and she's a woman in a man's world, the odds are stacked against her and her lawyer (Eric Stoltz). There are a few shocks and surprises to keep you guessing and the end isn't a foregone conclusion. Stoltz and Shepard are good and although Heche doesn't look Marine Corps material, she comes across as tough, self-reliant and convincing. Absorbing entertainment.
