Leon Phelps is a chat show host who talks dirty to the ladies on his lines and gets away with it - until even he goes too far and is fired. Now Leon's in trouble. Not only is he out of work but he's being pursued by a posse of husbands whose wives he's bedded. This very crude comedy is perhaps the one and only shot at stardom for a dislikeable and distinctly un-pretty American comedian called Tim Meadows whose homely features, Afro hairdo and middle-aged looks make him about as far from a ladies' man as you're likely to get. Beautiful Karyn Parsons, as his radio producer, looks embarrassed at having to fall for him. And it's a measure of Meadows' character's failure to involve us that, when his houseboat goes up (and down) in flames we feel no sympathy at all. What Julianne Moore is doing in this as one of Leon's conquests who likes to dress up as a clown is a matter for her (possibly ex) agent to answer.
