Chan and Tucker reprise their roles as Chief Inspector Lee of the Royal Hong Kong Police and the all-American LAPD detective James Carter.
As the movie opens, following on from the first film, the two buddies arrive in Hong Kong for a much-needed vacation - but instead end up working on the biggest case of their careers.
An explosion has killed two US customs agents who were investigating producers of counterfeit money, and the police suspect the mastermind behind the scheme to be Ricky Tan, the head of the deadliest gang in China.
Jumping from one location to the next, Carter and Lee find adventure at a local massage parlour, a bar, a casino, an extravagant hotel, and even a luxurious yacht.
Chris is on exuberantly funny form and few will probably care that Chris's jokes are relentlessly sexist and racist.
Jackie is a cheerful, reassuring presence, so benign that it almost comes as a shock when he turns into fists and feet of fury - and, boy, can Jackie still do the action at 47.
Keep watching for the end-credit out-takes.
