Just sniff the sweet fragrance of this inspirational story about prisoners who become gardeners. Clive Owen is a morose long-timer (in jail for the killing of his brother) transferred to an open prison where his association with a dying, twinkle-eyed Irish serial wife-murderer (David Kelly) leads to an interest in gardening. Owen's talents come to the attention of horticulturalist Helen Mirren and, taking on a garden project for her with his mates, Owen falls for her repressed daughter (Natasha Little). A joyous film of constant pleasures that would win a 'highly commended' riband any day, this is blooming marvellous.
