Four sassy African-American yuppie men, just hitting 30, tackle the age-old issues of love, sex and friendship in an entertaining, sometimes sentimental and often incisive look at the eternal battle of the sexes. Morris Chestnut, Bill Bellamy, D. L. Hughley and Shemar Moore are all very natural, convincing and appealing as the lifelong friends confronting life's little troubles and triumphs. So, is 30 a dangerous age, or can our four heroes belatedly come to true maturity, giving bars and basketball the elbow in favour of family and their rather troublesome womenfolk as, gosh, friends? With no plot to speak of, no new ideas and no stars, this might have been a bumpy ride, but, despite its drawbacks, it's genuinely fresh and appealing, thanks to some excellent dialogue, sharp handling and the attractive characters.
