Seemingly inspired by the excellent Beano comic strip of old The Numbskulls, this feature sees the little people who run your body taken to giddy and tasteless heights by The Farrelly Brothers.
Zoo-keeper Frank (Bill Murray) is a widowed slob. Inside his body there are strange goings on.
Wise-cracking Osmosis Jones, voiced by Chris Rock, is a white blood cell trying to track down Thrax - a nasty virus that's invading Frank's body.
Osmosis has a side-kick in his infection-fighting task in the shape of Drix, a prissy 12-hour cold relief pill (beautifully voiced by Frasier's David Hyde Pierce).
To complicate matters the body they are trying to protect is being encourage to 'get fat and happy' by the misguided Mayor Phlegmming.
The animators do a fine job depicting the human body as a bustling metropolis and the dialogue is sharp and funny, even if the Farrellys can't get away from their gross-out gags entirely.
But on the whole it's clever stuff, constantly amusing and intelligent. The main joy is the witty, inventive animation, which is cutting-edge state of the art.
