The chief interest of this rather nasty film lies in Ian Hart's quite remarkable impression of Frank Sinatra's singing style.
Hart, in a wild curly wig, plays a Scottish vocalist whose wannabe-Sinatra career is stillborn until he becomes involved with gangsters who get him on to a TV talent show.
Though it seems unlikely that Hart would flop completely on telly, this is as far as he gets, while becoming the gangsters' patsy in a series of heists and drug runs.
There is of course a girl (Kelly Macdonald) and the limpalong pianist manager (Alun Armstrong) who opts out when Hart gets in too deep.
Hollywood might have made something of this scenario, but this is too slow and fragmented. Worth the ticket, though, to hear Hart's spot-on Sinatra styling.
He can do Elvis too. Just listen to his rendition of In The Ghetto.
