Here's something a bit different - a really offbeat psychological thriller - which provides gainful employment for the ever excellent Rutger Hauer and Viginia Madsen. They play an odd couple who move in next door to a strange loner (Thomas Newton), in a rundown Hollywood mansion. When Hauer is supposedly brain-damaged in an accident, Newton decides to take care of him. But then Hauer's enemies begin dying off... All the cast put their backs into this one as though they believe every word of it, which is the only way to go here. The result is very enjoyable hokum, with a sleek production ensuring a polished finish.
