Love, politics and class at once bring together and tear apart an extended family, in this period piece set in the 1920s and centred on the last of the English who have ruled Ireland, bickering their lives away in dusty country estates. At one house party, a guest arrives whose unwanted advice and lively wit shakes up the household. It's a heavily-handled drama that somewhat dissipates the power of Elizabeth Bowen's original novel. But it does have hot young star Keeley Hawes (from Spooks) and a class cast that includes Fiona Shaw, Maggie Smith and Michael Gambon.
