Stallone's latest bid to regain lost ground as an A-list Hollywood star kicks off in the vein of Se7en and then tumbles into tried and tested psycho-on-the-loose territory.

It might have appeared a good idea for Sly to team up with Gillespie, the Scotsman behind I Know What You Did Last Summer.

But If You Know What Stallone's Been Doing The Last Few Years then the result will come as no surprise.

FBI agent Jake Malloy (Stallone) blames himself when a serial cop killer does something nasty to his girlfriend with a power drill.

It's no comfort when the psycho apparently takes his own life and Jake spends his time denting the whisky bottle, when he's not contemplating suicide.

Concerned boss Charlie Hendricks (Dutton) persuades Jake to check into a detox centre in the Wyoming wilderness that specialises in cops on the sauce.

The former Cold War command post - which has more in common with a grain silo than a health spa - is run by former policeman Kristofferson (at least he can give them a song).

The patients are the usual characters from central casting, including a boozed up Mountie and a former SWAT specialist who now specialises in VAT 69.

There's also what appears to be an escapee from The Bill (surely it would have been cheaper for the Met to send him to a London branch of Alcoholic's Anonymous).

Anyway, chaos reigns when the apparently dead psycho returns to haunt Jake and also think up some unpleasant ways to reduce detox centre waiting lists.

It's all competently done and there are a few chills and spills along the way but you can see the ending coming a mile off.

Stallone has expressed hopes that a new Rocky may be on the cards if he hits it big at the box office again. Think again, Sly.
