Detective Nero Wolfe (Maury Chaykin) is on the case again, as a socialite is found dead. It's apparently a suicide, but, as in so many of these TV detective films, it turns out to be murder, with poison delivered in the victim's champagne. Wolfe and his partner Archie (Timothy Hutton, also the director) help keep our interest up through various twists and turns to the usual smart ending. Author Rex Stout's detective's office is faithfully recreated in all its peculiarity.
