An impressive piece of drama that bears the distinction of rock-solid direction from British director Jack Gold (The Naked Civil Servant, Red Monarch and Good and Bad at Games) and a top-line starring performance by American Hill Street Blues regular Daniel J Travanti, as veteran US broadcaster Edward R Murrow, who spoke bravely against the iniquitous McCarthy witch-hunts. Dabney Coleman (the chauvenistic boss of Nine to Five) stands out in a uniformily good cast as Murrow's CBS boss. Production designer Bob Cartwright's transformation of London and New York in the Forties and Fifties is the icing on the cake.
