This is a relative of the Creepshow family of horror-comic-strip stories, the difference with Nightmares being, according to its producer, that it tries to discover `the horror to be found in the simplest, most reassuring objects and surroundings.' Hmm. Veronica Cartwright, recovered from being eaten by the Alien, gets another chance to scream (this time at a giant rat) and Emilio Estevez, as a teenage pinball wizard, shows the promise he later fulfilled in Stakeout. But horror omnibus films haven't been up to much for a couple of decades and this is no better (nor any more subtle) than most.
