Glenn Ford is a rare visitor to the world of TV movies. And here he stars in an unusual one with a circus setting. He plays Punch, a man who forsakes high society for a life with a travelling circus - initially as a roustabout. But he soon becomes manager, book keeper, knife-thrower, elephant trainer and clown. The owner-occupier of the circus provides a character role for Ruth Roman. Pam Griffin is cast as the youngster Jody, who, 15 years after her mother's death, seeks out Punch - the father she has never seen. Miss Roman is probably as familiar as her co-star to viewers because she has done an appreciable amount of TV work. She made her debut in the Forties in serials before making her mark in feature films. She was in the Marx Brothers classic A Night in Casablanca, but her real break through was in the taut 1949 thriller The Window, as Bobby Driscoll's mother.
