This TV movie runs along the lines established by the French director Claude Lelouch, whose persuasive romantic melodramas often carry complex flashback structures. Filmed in Venice, Paris, Italy, Carcassone and Leeds (co-produced by Yorkshire Television), it revolves around Hollywood star Cheryl Ladd as a woman who, on the train from Venice to Paris, encounters the man she fell in love with while on holiday in Europe 10 years before. The pace of the film is hardly up to the express of the title, but proceedings are enlivened by Ruby Wax as Ladd's co-worker. And Peter Jackson's lyrical photography of the settings is admirable.
