There are some interesting bits and pieces about this story, and they just need one or two more elements integrated into them to make a really fascinating movie. Presumably based on director Stanley Kubrick's early career, it's about the making of a film in 1955, in which a shady character puts up the money so that his mistress can play the lead. Peter Coyote displays an attractive personality as the director and has happily been seen more often since. But Blaine Novak is surely nobody's idea of a leading man, although his co-scripting does show talent.
