A cinema curiosity made by Alan Rudolph, a disciple of Robert Altman. It turns out to be a kind of tragi-comic La Ronde, set against the free-living music business of Los Angeles. Keith Carradine has the central role of the composer back in L A for the recording of a pop cantata he has composed. Despite (or perhaps because of) a goatee beard and a deerstalker hat, he hardly displays the charisma one would have thought necessary to attract such personable ladies as Sally Kellerman, Sissy Spacek, Geraldine Chaplin, Diahann Abbott, Viveca Lindfors and Lauren Hutton into his bed.
