A sex-orientated comedy that varies from the serious to the satirical, and from whiplash comedy to flaccid farce. How anyone could leave the delicious Brenda Vaccaro, even with her hair in curlers, for the plastic Angel Tompkins, is quite beyond me. The script (by Robert Kaufman) does best with its incidental lines. One remembers especially Elliott Gould's cri de coeur as his wife and mother-in-law do battle around him: `I have three weeks to live - four if I stay in bed.'
