Skilfully-made, poetic study of the tragedy of Trotsky's daughter Zina Bronstein in the Germany of the early Thirties. A tortured performance by Domiziana Giordano and a thoughtful, impassive one from Ian McKellen as Kronfeld are the centrepieces in a richly-detailed drama recorded in what seems like minute detail by director Ken McMullen's prowling camera.
