Director Henry Hathaway did a useful job on this convincing Western, previously shown in this country as Manhunt. But he had a good list of players supporting hero Don Murray. They're all type-cast, but to great effect: R G Armstrong in typical fire-eating form as the vengeful rancher gunning for the innocent Murray; Dennis Hopper as Armstrong's wild son; Rudolfo Acosta as a crafty Mexican and crow-voiced Chill Wills, bringing his own brand of homespun charm to the role of heroine Diane Varsi's father.
