A tougher-than-usual TV movie based on a real-life case in which the stepson of a murdered couple, torn apart by the knowledge that his home state had not enforced the death penalty for decades, decides to 'arrange' the execution of the killer himself. Brad Davis gives a typically hard-driving performance as the vengeful Tony, Frances McDormand is particularly effective as one of his stepsisters and Brad Dourif is in his usual chilling, wide-eyed, twitchy form as the in-prison killer. Touches of ghoulish humour in James Lee Barrett's otherwise tight-knit script seem out of place.
