James Farentino stars as a jut-jawed father who sets his two young sons in competition with each other to be the kind of kid that he was. This is a grim and unrelenting affair peopled by characters iwho are hard to like. Jill Eikenberry, from L. A. Law, has the thankless task of playing the wife who stands aside from the sibling rivalry until it's too late to intervene.
