Kevin Costner gives a striking performance in this cycling drama about two brothers who untangle their emotions as they compete in a gruelling race across the Rocky Mountains. Making too many big statements and trying to wheel in too many directions, the screenplay isn't a patch on writer Steve Tesich's Oscar-winning script for the 1979 cycle movie, Breaking Away. The women's roles are particularly underwritten.
