This western about a sheriff trying to keep a gunman in jail for killing a Mexican was young Pat Wayne's first taste of stardom. His father Big John Wayne, approved. But, although it's a thoughtful film, with dazzling Technicolor photography, it didn't do for Pat what The Big Trail had done for Pa 30 years before. It did rather more for sparky Yvonne Craig, who became television's Batgirl.
