Getting a blind man and a deaf man to be each other's eyes and ears against a gang of crooks sounds like a great comic idea. But, with Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor offering overpitched performances (especially when giving painful impersonations of foreign doctors), the results are disappointingly feeble - except for a couple of bright sequences here and there. The female lead, Joan Severance, must have been hired for her stunning looks rather than acting ability and the only highspots are blind Pryor being asked to help another blind man across the road, and two blind men stalking each other with revolvers. Parents might also note that this has an amazingly high ration of four-letter words for a comedy. Still, if you want a comedy-adventure that's frantic if not funny, this could pass a couple of hours without too much pain.
