Five unemployed young Scots go on a fantasy trip to escape the aimlessness of their lives in this intriguing drama, taken from Manfred Karge's play which was originally seen at the Edinburgh Festival and Lonson's Royal Court Theatre. Inspired by the diary of Roald Amundsen, the explorer who will always be best known as the man who beat Scott to the South Pole, the lads go on their own polar journey - in their own back yard in Edinburgh. The film was shot on location in the local docklands during the 1988/89 winter... and not a single flake of snow fell throughout the whole shoot.
