Neither fiction nor quite documentary, this is certainly an exquisite, timeless tribute to Van Gogh from Australian-based, Dutch-born director Paul Cox. Intelligent use of music by Vivaldi and Rossini underpins dazzling images and the striking, if sometimes self-conscious, re-staging of events in the artist's life that inspired his work.
