Steve Martin has a big nose job and the result is a delightful, surprisingly faithful reworking of the classic Cyrano de Bergerac play. Martin plays a fire chief who falls in love when leggy astronomer Daryl Hannah sashays into town but she fancies a new fireman and soon Martin's standing in with the vocals for the thick Romeo. More funny gags in Martin's script would be better but this charming film's always great fun to be with.
