Slipstream

In the future, pollution and high winds have driven human society into canyons and deep valleys. Mark 'Luke Skywalker' Hamill stars as a lawman trying to keep his mysterious prisoner away from the greedy clutches of bounty hunter Bill Paxton. Post-apocalyptic sci-fi adventure in the same vein as Waterworld, with cameos from Robbie Coltrane and Oscar-winners Ben Kingsley and F. Murray Abraham.

Slipstream

The producer of this science-fantasy about a planet dominated by its 'slipstream' is Star Wars' own Gary Kurtz.

Unfortunately, lightning doesn't strike twice in these weird waters and this loop-the-loopy aerial 'trip' is not a mega-hit.

It took a while to work out the difference between Ben Kingsley and F Murray Abraham in two cameos that amount to no more than a cough and a spit; and even longer to figure out Mark Hamill's role!

Sadly, that's the least of the film's problems since, although it possesses some bizarre notions that might prove absorbing on the printed page, there's little action or incident to back them up, with the dialogue gradually falling away to the point where it may produce titters from the audience.

Bob Peck's oddball reading of the android-on-the-run doesn't really work; Hamill has little to do; and Bill Paxton can't quite fill Harrison Ford's moon boots.

When all's said and done, it's still intriguing if only to see what Mark Hamill has been up to all this time.
