Tedious and stubbornly unamusing spy comedy thriller, wasting the talents of Gene Wilder and his wife Gilda Radner (who later teamed up for The Woman in Red and Haunted Honeymoon). There's little that Wilder can do to spark up the strained script, and though he's always a genial presence, his top form of the Seventies had left him. The script was originally planned for Wilder and Richard Pryor after the success of the similar Hitchcock takeoff, Silver Streak in 1976. Wilder married Radner in 1984, but she died of ovarian cancer in 1989, aged 42.
