A British crimewriter (Rampling) suffering writer's block takes a break in the French holiday home of her publisher (Dance).
Unannounced, his French daughter Sarah (Sagnier) arrives - a wild child with a penchant for older men.
The two women - polar opposites - clash at first but after Rampling discovers the daughter's diary and uses it as inspiration for her new book, they begin to bond.
But then Sarah's latest conquest leads to murder...
An excellent mystery thriller from the director of the acclaimed Sitcom and 8 Women.
Sexy, funny and engrossing with a great twist, which we won't reveal here, the film has shades of Hitchcock and the classic Les Diaboliques (albeit much more explicit than those could get away with).
The performances from Rampling and Sagnier are wonderful and we'll be seeing more of Sagnier (though not as much as she reveals here) as Tinkerbell in PJ Hogan's forthcoming Peter Pan.
If there's any justice in the world this will be a crossover hit with audiences rather than remaining ghettoised as an arthouse movie. Treat yourself!
