The director made her feature debut with the supernatural drama Kiss of Life with Peter Mullan and Ingerborga Dapkunaite.

After studying English literature at Edinburgh University she attended the director's programme at the Polish National Film School in Lodz.

Her short Second Hand - about a schoolgirl's fear of embarrassment - won the 1999 Cannes Cinefondation Competition.

Upcoming projects include an adaptation of Adrea Ashworth's best-selling memoir Once in a House on Fire.
