A film company scouting locations for a biopic of James Dean approaches Max, the owner of the petrol station on the stretch of road where the star was killed. Frasier's dad John Mahoney plays the diner owner whose painful memories are stirred up by the arrival of the film crew. Virginia Madsen - later to impress in Sideways - and Ian Gomez play his lovey-dovey staff. A gentle comedy drama.

In this comedy drama, Max (Frasier's John Mahoney) owns a diner near the spot where James Dean was killed in a car crash (in California's Salinas Valley).

When a film crew arrives to make a movie about the iconic actor's last days, Max's painful memories are exposed, but everyone's love life seems to improve.

Linda Edmond plays a visiting reporter being pursued by boss Ray Wise, while Virginia Madsen and Ian Gomez play diner staff.

A gentle and characterful piece, but lacking in drama.
