Kirstie Alley plays a small-town vet who meets up with a friend from her hippy youth (Peter Horton, in the kind of role he does in his sleep) when his dog needs to put put down. The rest of the film is all about middle-aged longing for how things could have turned out, mixed with the odd, deep, dark youthful secret. Without Alley and Horton's capable acting, it would all be very dull.
