Equilibrium
Christian 'The New Batman' Bale stars alongside Sean Bean in this earnest sub-Matrix sci-fi action which still packs some punch.
It was a great movie, which was pulled off amazingly by Christian Bale.
Richard Smith
Equilibrium is clearly just Orwells' 1984 repackaged. However, as unoriginal as the film is with its Palace of Justice replacing the Minister of Love, let's not forget that 1984 was a master-piece. And if we look past the terribly OTT action scenes with Bale getting away with Neo style stunts, the message is amazingly clear. All that you need to do when watching this film is remember that it is set in a world physically very different from our own, but striking parallels are drawn between them.

This could easily be seen as being a rip off of George Orwells 1984, which is rightly is. But it's implemented and performed well and regardless of the plot holes provides a good hour or so of entertainment, and at least there wasn't bullet time, just high speed martial arts. Less irritating then the boredom enducing Matrix trilogy of overused special effects.

I love this film! The supporting cast are great and a lot of them are British! This is an original story with a bit of a twist, but the best thing about it is the fight sequences in this are excellent, as well as being a showcase for Christian Bale who is the most under-rated actor of my generation. I am a fan of the Matrix as well and although some people may think they are similar this is worth watching, you may be surprised!!

This is the best sci-fi I have ever seen, I give this 5 stars because it mixes a nitty gritty bad boy fight scene with some sexy stunts and graphics and a tint of what's going to happen next sort of film. There's a part in this film that I will never forget, but I'm not gooing to tell you! Watch this film and you will be amazed, don't listen to people who say this is a film that's like The Matrix, it's nothing like it, it's a film that should be recognised.

Apart from the cheesey dances and hand moves with the rifles, the film is rather top notch, original with the story. Although it does look very similar to the matrix.
Lee Morris
Definitely not as good as The Matrix. But still a very good film. The fight scenes are excellent. This film is ridiculously similar to George Lucas's THX1138, so it sort of took the shine off the whole experience for me.

The film is awesome, I have a copy and I think I have watched it about 6 times just because of the stunts in it and I can't seem to get enough of it!
Tom Morgan
The Matrix brought us a new style of martial arts. This film takes us way beyond The Matrix to a well-executed film. The only downside was the ending... Otherwise, this film tops The Matrix easily.
Kye Nicholas
This is a great film... there are some good fight scenes plus a good story behind it.
Tony
There is no denying the similarities to The Matrix, especially the fight scenes. Overall, good, but Christian Bale struggles bewtween doing the right thing (freeing others from a dictator) and doing what is right (obeying the law).

A brilliant piece of film making. The cinematography is well paced, with excellent lighting and sound. The story draws on the labyrinth that was George Orwell's mind, in conjuring up a modernised film version of 1984. This film will provoke you, and make you think about what a society that is ideologically puritanican can end up looking like, and as a result be a wake up call to all who are internationalists. Watch the film with your emotions in gear.

This film really is the best movie I've ever seen. It's been the only movie where I could hear people in the cinema commenting on how amazing it is. The film is shorter, faster and more entertaining than The Matrix. Watch it, love it. It's cool! Hey, if I could choose between being Cleric and Neo, I'll be Cleric any day :) Ciao!

This was quite honestly one of the best films I have ever seen. I never take notice of critics and make my own mind up. I will be buying this for its excellent action sequences and who really cares about the storyline anyway! It's a movie! I preferred this to The Matrix but can see the similarities.

I think that, yes, the critism for this movie is harsh. I thought that, given its budget, it was well done. As for one bloke killing 50 guys, it was meant to represent martials arts at its highest level. If they took a second to watch the movie and stopped thinking of ways to criticise, they would have seen that gun battles were analysed and found that certain angles and tatics were used in certain situations - that's how the guy took out 50 guys, it was called a gun kata.

A movie which takes ideas from others, notably The Matrix, and attempts to find some originality. Unfortunately, this Minority Report style storyline (good guy ends up on the wrong side) doesn't satisfy - neither is it deep enough. Build-up of the events could have been a little quicker...
