AVP: Alien Vs Predator
It started with an in-joke that got out of hand. Now, after a long wait filled by various comic books and video games, Aliens finally get to take on Predators. For those who love the genre it's a dream come true where monsters and non-stop action rule the day.
As a massive fan of both original movies, I was expecting a tension filled masterclass filled with great performances and sublime action! Could I have been much more wrong? Sadly this whole film stinks. A wafer thin plot, some awful acting (if you can call it that) and a lack of Predators actually coming claw to claw with the fearsome Aliens make this movie a waste of time. Some average action scenes may make this barely watchable for some die hard fans or the originals. But I doubt it!

If anyone is like me they were looking forward to the 2 best known monsters around in their own movie together but then again thought it would be just like Freddy Vs Jason and we all know how that turned out. as I saw it though I thought it was a really good film. Good special effects, the acting was good and it had an okay plotline. You will like this if you liked the Alien or Predator films.
Ben Redford
All i can say is, WOW! At first I thought, "Oh no, it's a horror, i won't like it" But this film totally changed my view of horrors despite the fact it has more action than horror.
Richard Williams
AVP isn't perfect, but so what? The dialogue may be terrible, the script a little dodgy, but it's the creatures we were looking forward to, right? I have to say that AVP has some of the best creature effects I have seen in a long time, way better than what we saw in Alien Resurrection. Even though it was only made for money, Paul Anderson did a good job of putting these two characters together. I only hope he has the budget and freedom on the sequel to let the franchise expand and not die out.
Stuart Normington
Another film based around special effects (and not very many at that) instead of content. You are not given the time to build a relationship with the cast before they start getting knocked off, and therefore find yourself not really giving a damn when one by one they are picked off.
Manj Singh
Being a fan of both films and the comic books, I couldn't wait to head down to the cinema and watch this but i SO wish i hadn't now. The movie is devoid of all tension, the dialogue is pathetic and half way through the film you just curse yourself on why you even brought the ticket. This could have been a classic but Mr Paul W. Anderson has made a right pile of drivle. Please if you havent watched this spare your self the pain and humilation and spend the ticket money on a pint in the pub.

Absolutely fantastic film!
Great story line and characters. At first, I thought it might be an "all right" film due to the characters not being recognized, totally the opposite! Each of them played a fantastic role. The special effects and fight scenes were brilliant!A credit to 20th Century Fox - well done! Can't wait for the sequel.

I enjoyed this film alot and loved both franchises originally. I already read the book the film is based on and the film didn't let me down. Many people will say that there should have been more fight sequences between the 2 alien species however I feel that for setting up the story it worked well. People should remember that to set-up a successful movie franchise it's important to put a working story into practice and this film does scream out for a sequel. This is better than Jason Vs Freddy.
Ian Ayling
I love the film because of course I love the alien trilogy and the predator films.

I saw the film a short while ago and was very disappointed. Apart from the awful fight scenes (the few there are) the flaws in the plot are everywhere thats all I will say I dont want to spoil it. I dont think Paul Anderson has even seen the original movies! The first thing that struck me to be wrong was the missing 18 rating, there was no suspense and I was more scared the last time I clipped my toe nails! Overall it could have been A LOT better so only watch it if you really really have to.

A V P was almost there... but not quite. It was missing something that would have taken it from ok to out of this world. With the Aliens and the Predators, you have two of the greatest movie aliens ever created and so the makers will make money but it just fell short of the mark. Overall, I enjoyed the film, you can't read too much into a film like this, you just expect to be entertained. I will buy the dvd and would love to see a follow-up.
Helen Elson
This was probably the worse film I have seen in a very long time. It was poor from start to finish. The acting was poor and so was the plot lines. Also what is with the lead lady joining forces with the monster ie. predator. It ended up like a romance film.
Scott Harman
Once again, taking something that has been massively hyped by the industry and destroying it. We all had such high hopes for Hellboy, Spiderman, Van Helsing and the League of XG's - but they're just never going to be as good as they should be. How about fixing the storyline, and targeting at the 16/18 audience. They're films for the 18-35 age group - but mainly the 25's.
Lots of gloss and CGI will never bring back the cold sweats that you feel the first time you see an Alien or Predator!
Carl Turland
How can Jason Howe give this film five stars without even seeing it. A v P is very average. This is a film that has no story, is cliched and is just down-right poor. The dialogue is not even worthy of a comment. Such a shame and a big disappointment to all Alien and Predator fans.
Steve Marshall
Anyone who is expecting a film up to the quality of the first few Alien films and the first Predator film will be very disappointed with this effort. It lacks tension, a good storyline, good characters.. also nothing really happens for the first 50 mins! In fact the only good thing in the whole movie is the fight sequences between Aliens & Predators.. but overall don't waste your money going to see this, the last thing we want is AVP2!
Tom Jackson
Yes - after much hype (about nothing) the AVP film has finally arrived. I had the opportunity to see this movie in the USA recently as it was released over a month ago.
I've got to say it was a disappointment in terms of what they could have acheived. The characters lack any real depth, the effects are excellent as you would expect, however as has been proven so many times in recent years (The Hulk!) without a really strong script - it sucks.
Greg Dunne
This film was corn without the cob. The only thing that surprised me was that Bulk and Skull didn't appear! The fight scenes between A and P were missing one thing, the WWE ref. I was waiting for Vince to enter and say "lets make this a TLC". You get to know the person in the cinema sitting 4 rows in front of you more than the characters in the movie. The tension you normally associate with both beasts is non existent, you get more from seeing Bob Monkhouse's full house. Did ITV make it?
Jason Howe
I haven't actually seen the film yet, but I know I'm really going to like it. The thought of bringing these two classic intergalactic giants together has certainly been long awaited by many. Especially myself. I believe that the 'vs' films can be very good depending on how well written the film is and how good the acting is. As well as if the storyline makes the encounters believable. If this is done well, then Alien vs Predator will easily outgross Freddy vs Jason.
