Liza Adopts Girl
Minnelli and new hubby take on three-year-oldCabaret star Liza Minnelli and her new husband, David Gest, are to adopt a child, it has been reported.
The 56-year-old actress and singer will welcome three-year-old Serena into her family in January, according to the New York Post.
After her March marriage to Gest, 48, she said she wanted to adopt as soon as possible.
"I've wanted children since I was a little girl, but I've had five miscarriages," she said.
"Adoptions often take years but ours was only a four-month process.
The situation was somebody who couldn't provide for her," she told the paper.The couple's new reality TV show is to be aired in the US at the start of November, but they insist the youngster will never appear on it.
"The baby will not be seen anywhere. That's our private world."
