Fame Takes Toll On Bell
Young Jamie says 'stupid' film industry makes it hard to find loveJamie Bell says fame is taking its toll on his love life.
The Billy Elliot star turned up alone for the premiere of his latest film after splitting up with his girlfriend.
The 17-year-old had been going out with Sheryl McNally for 18 months.
And he admitted his growing fame has made it impossible to keep a relationship going.
Bell arrived alone at the UK charity premiere of Dickens adaptation Nicholas Nickleby.
"I'm too old to bring my mum to premieres," he said.
Asked about his recent break-up, he shrugged.
"I'm in a stupid industry where it's very hard to hold anything down," he said.Bell shot to fame with his starring role in Billy Elliot, in which he played a north-east schoolboy who dreams of becoming a ballet dancer.
In Nicholas Nickleby, he co-stars as Nicholas' friend Smike.
Fellow Brit Charlie Hunnam. 23, plays Nickleby.
Hunnam is best known for his role as a gay schoolboy in Channel 4 drama Queer As Folk.
His explicit sex scenes led to the show becoming one of the most complained-about programmes in British TV history.
Hunnam was also at the premiere in London's Leicester Square, along with fellow stars of the film Jim Broadbent and Romola Garai.
Stephen Daldry, who directed Bell in Billy Elliot and remains a close friend of the teenager, was also there.
