The fact that it's based on a true story makes this TV film an interesting one, the fact that it stars Alan Arkin makes it a very watchable one. Arkin is Harold Kaufman, an ex-con finding it difficult to find a job and go straight until waste disposal magnate Charles Macaluso (Armand Assante) offers him employment. But when Kaufman discovers that the company is illegally dumping toxic waste and also has Mafia connections, he risks his life by becoming an FBI informant. Arkin is on top form (as usual) and Assante is very effective as the dangerous, smooth-talking Macaluso. Their performances dominate an absorbing and tightly-paced drama.
