Brilliant, fast-moving Cole Porter musical based on Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. Howard Keel has never been more virile and Kathryn Grayson never gutsier (she's a real surprise here) as the feuding singers. Ann Miller also dances up a storm in the Tom, Dick or Harry number, with the help of talented MGM hoofers Bob Fosse, Tommy Rall and Bobby Van. Add James Whitmore and Keenan Wynn as gangsters giving a priceless rendition of Brush Up Your Shakespeare and you have almost the perfect show, marred only by things being thrown at the screen, a reminder that this was originally made in 3D.
