The actor and fledgling director was nominated for two Cesars (French Oscars) for Ma Femme Est Une Actrice.
He made his acting debut in 1989 in a World Without Pity and went on to appear in mainly French films.
In 1999, he dubbed Tom Cruise's voice into French for the foreign version of Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut, Mission Impossible II and Vanilla Sky.
"And as an actor, when I spend my day naked in a bed with another actress, pretending that it's fake, but it's really real, I'm really naked, she's really naked, I'm really kissing her."
His is married to the French actress Charlotte Gainsburg.
In 2003, he starred in Jean Paul Rappeneau's brisk farce Bon Voyage with Isabelle Adjani.
Recent work includes the role of a photographer in Sydney Pollack's conspiracty thriller The Interpreter with Nicole Kidman.
