A thoroughly unpleasant black comedy which sets out to shock and, given its content, can hardly fail to succeed. The anti-heroes' interminable ramblings about the bourgeoisie are punctuated only by some new sexual excess, involving either themselves or the women around them. Gerard Depardieu and Patrick Dewaere are suitably thuggish and disgustingly dislikeable in a film originally refused a certificate in this country, but subsequently granted an 'X' for specific London screenings.
