The trials and tribulations of parenthood are given a distinctively French flavour in this lightweight comedy. Divorced father André (Gérard Depardieu) takes his teenage daughter Véronique (Marie Gillain) on an exotic holiday, hoping to forge stronger ties with her. But in an effort to impress a boy, Véronique concocts a tale that her father is both her lover and a fugitive spy. Soon, André is perplexed to find the hotel guests acting in a hostile manner towards him, and Véronique must come up with ever more elaborate lies to maintain her facade. The pleasing, if wildly implausible, events are directed with flair by Gérard Lauzier, but it's Depardieu who really bolsters this flimsy affair.
