Iain Softley
Born: England
Londoner Iain was always interested in the arts, but his camera career began when he worked on the team of a documentary at Granada TV.
Iain joined the BBC in Southampton and made 30 "auteur documentaries" for TV, which led to music videos, in which he made his name.
His feature debut was Backbeat - the story of the fifty Beatle - by which point he was a highly respected director in the industry.
In 1995 Iain produced his first US based film, Hackers, which he also executive produced, but his real breakthrough feature was the big screen adaptation of Henry James' Wings of the Dove, which starred Helena Bonhma Carter.
Most recently Iain directed K-Pax, starring Kevin Spacey as a man convinced he's from another planet.
