Dull, overacted and very slow to start, this is a fun-sounding idea that in fact only livens up towards the end.
The twin story threads - the Cuba missile crisis of 1962, and the visit of a film showman to Key West to plug his new horror film Mant ('Half man, half ant, all terror! ') - are obviously destined to intertwine, but John Goodman as the cigar-chomping movie mogul is kept out of the action far too long for the film's comfort.
Drippy sub-teens dominate too much of the storyline, but the climax is just about worth hanging in there for.
Pop out to the pub in the middle of this Matinee.
