The writer/director first drew attention for her lesbian romantic comedy Go Fish! featuring co-writer Guinevere Turner.
The native of America's Midwest followed that up with Bedrooms & Hallways, a British-set gay romantic comedy starring Kevin McKidd and James Purefoy.
In 2001, she switched her gaze to the heterosexual American suburbs for The Safety of Objects, an adaptation of several short stories by AM Holmes.
On TV, she directed an episode of the hit Six Feet Under and her latest project is a series about the lesbian community in LA called The L Word.
