The accomplished Malcolm in the Middle star landed his big screen lead in the comedy Big Fat Liar.
He had made his TV-movie debut in the drama To Dance With Olivia in 1997, which he followed with the difficult role of a deaf boy in What the Deaf Man Heard.
2000 proved to be Muniz's breakthrough year, with his regular series and feature film starring debuts coming only weeks apart.
On television, he played the title character in Malcolm in the Middle and on the big screen, he starred in My Dog Skip, a WWII set tale of a boy and his dog.
Later that year he appeared in It Had To Be You, followed by voice work as a young bear cub in the hit sequel Dr. Dolittle 2.
In 2002, he had his first big screen lead since his success in the children's comedy Big Fat Liar and undertook a featured role in the period drama Deuces Wild.
Next up, Frankie starred as a boy who is trained to perform special operations for the government in Agent Cody Banks, followed a year later by a sequel.
