Shy young orphan Albert (Haley Joel Osment) has to move in with his businesswoman aunt (Whoopi Goldberg). Albert invents a French friend named Bogus (Gérard Depardieu), who helps him come to terms with the loss of his mother and eventually teaches his aunt a thing or two. Pleasant to look at and amiable, with good turns by the star trio, the film hits top gear in Whoopi and Gérard's super song-and-dance routine.
